Sushi lovers, beware
Besides the inherent risk from eating raw fish, a new study concern has arisen regarding sushi. Researches found that mercury level in tuna and sushi were so high that in the us food and drug administration had legally removed he fish from the market.
Mercury is an environmental contaminant that originates from man-made sources, such as coal burning power plants and medical waste incinerators, then enters local water-ways and hence into the ocean where it accumalets the fatty fish.
The metal is known to have health determental effects in children as well as adult. Once it ingested in stomach it accumaletes in the body after repeated exposure and can cause neurological problems as well as cardiovascular risk.
The larger the fish the more mercury it accumaletes in its flesh. The average mercury levels in tuna and sushi were found to be higher than as compared to other fishes such as king marcal(bangda), shark and swordfish, salmon.
So if you love seafood then mostly avoid sushi and tuna or you can go with the given replacement.
