Harmful Effects Of Cholesterol
As many as half of the 530,000 deaths from heart disease in the U.S. in 1999, may have been the result of raised cholesterol and lipid levels. Most of the evidence surrounding the death statistics about the point of heart disease low levels of HDL (high-density lipoprotein) cholesterol and high levels of LDL (low-density lipoprotein) cholesterol as the main perpetrators.
Fat-like substances called lipids (HDL and LDL are the two lipids in the form of fat-protein complex lipoprotein) cholesterol circulates in the body and, in the wrong ratio and amount, can cause what is called atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries).
Atherosclerosis occurs when plaque is formed as a result of high LDL, the longer plaque is left to develop, become and the greater calcium build-up, When this happens the heart broken in two ways.....
