Mono is also known as MONONUCLEOSIS infectious which is a contagious disease caused due to a virus known as Epstein-barr virus. This disease is commonly found in both, adults as well as in children. Mononucleosis which is also known as glandular fever, even it is more known as kissing disease and is believed t6o be contracted and propagated through kissing.

All over the world there is a strong misconception on this disease is it is caused only due to kissing. But the fact is one should be aware that infectious mononucleosis is a contagious disease and is transmitted from one person to another through exchange of bodily fluids like saliva, during coughing and sneezing or sharing of personal items.


Apart from kissing the individualmay get suffer from this disease due to; sharing of drinking glass, plates, towels and handkerchief, etc. also leads to this condition. Signs and Symptoms of Mono

People of any age group can contract this disease but those in between 15-18 years and below 30 years of age are in the highest risk group of developing mononucleosis.
